Famagusta” is a compelling TV series that brings to life the harrowing events surrounding the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974. Set in the city of Famagusta, the series focuses on the tragic and poignant story of a young couple whose lives are irrevocably changed by the conflict.
The series opens with the dramatic scene of the invasion. Andreas Sekeris, played by Giannis Bezos, and his wife Christina, portrayed by Koralia Karanti, are among the Greek Cypriots caught in the chaos. On the fateful day of the invasion, Christina is holding their three-month-old baby when an explosion renders her unconscious. Upon regaining consciousness, she finds her baby missing.
