Video Game Design with Scratch: Live Virtual Camp 6/27-6/30/2022, 10:30-11:45AM PST (Ages 7-12)

 What Do I Need to Get Started?
Welcome to Coding!

Here are a few things you will need to participate in this class:

1) A Computer, Laptop, Tablet or Smart Phone with internet access.
2) Either a built-in webcam and microphone, or an external webcam with microphone.
3) Before your live virtual class session, try out your webcam to make sure it's working. You can do this at www.zoom.us/test.
4) When it's time to join the class, simply click on the ZOOM Live Virtual Class Link on the course page and you are on your way! No need for logging in anywhere else or waiting for a meeting ID confirmation.

Once you are logged into the session you will be placed in a waiting room. The teacher will admit you to the live class when it's time. This is a safety precaution to guard the live class against any unauthorized users.

Customizing and Creating Your Own Games
 Creating and Customizing your Own Games

To start creating games, you may want to get inspiration from other games. Clicking on the link above will allow you to see the code for these games. You may want to load up a game you like and then proceed to customizing it yourself, making it your own.

Once you have had a chance to experiment with customizing the code of existing games, try to create your own games from "scratch" - pun intended! Start out with a simple premise. You can always add more layers, backgrounds and other elements as you feel more comfortable in the design process.
